Some buyers never board a plane; they send a list and we do the buying. Others want to judge the goods with their own eyes. For them we work as a Yiwu market guide and interpreter: a member of our own staff, booked for the days of your visit, who plans the market around your list, carries the language and keeps the records that turn a trip into orders. We speak English and Russian, and this is the market we work in every week.
One distinction up front. Our representative service is a monthly arrangement, the same person holding your account all year. This page is help for one specific trip, priced for the days you are actually in Yiwu. Continuous ordering belongs with the Yiwu representative service; a week in the aisles to build a container belongs here.
What a day together actually looks like
People occasionally book a Yiwu wholesale market tour expecting sightseeing. It is a working day. We meet at your hotel or an agreed market gate at opening time. The districts were chosen before you landed, so the first booth of the morning is already relevant. Your Yiwu market interpreter runs each booth conversation: price against quantity, minimums per design, cartons, production time versus stock, and who actually makes the item.
While your eyes are on the product, we keep the record: booth number, seller’s card, photos, quoted numbers, packing. The role is half interpreter, half Yiwu market assistant, handling the route and the arithmetic while you judge the goods. Every corridor blurs into the last one by mid afternoon; the record is what survives.
Lunch is quick. Late in the day we turn the notes into a shortlist: booths worth a second visit, samples to collect, quotes to re-confirm.
The day saves three things: the language gap at the booth, the record keeping you would otherwise do badly, and the routing, since a Yiwu wholesale market guide knows before you land which districts fit your list. It does not make sellers drop prices out of respect; knowing the normal level for an item helps more than theatre.
A general interpreter and a trade interpreter are different jobs
A freelance Yiwu translator found online may be genuinely good at the language. For a conference, that may be all you need. A market day asks for something else.
A capable Yiwu English translator will carry every sentence faithfully and still not know that the quoted minimum sits well above what the corridor usually asks, or that the booth resells goods made two streets away. That is no criticism; it is a different trade. A Yiwu business translator who buys here for a living hears the price level, the hedge and the missing detail in the same sentence.
Our people are buyers first and a Yiwu interpreter second. The translation has to be accurate; what you pay for is the judgement around it. A Yiwu market translator from a sourcing company arrives with what follows the conversation: a warehouse, receiving checks, colleagues who chase your quotes after you fly home.
Decide these things before you land
A Yiwu business trip is won in the preparation, so settle these before you book:
- A written product list, with target quantities and the prices you pay now.
- A rough order budget, since every price at every booth depends on quantity.
- Samples or clear photos of what you sell, if matching an existing product matters.
- Who decides. If a partner at home holds a veto, agree how fast they answer.
- How many days you have. The list dictates the days, not the other way round.
On paperwork, one responsible answer: entry requirements for China depend on your nationality, route and the purpose and length of your stay, and they change. Check them early with the Chinese embassy or consulate responsible for your country. We plan market days; we do not advise on immigration.
Once flights are real, send us the dates. Planning districts around a Yiwu sourcing trip costs little and saves the worst first-day mistake, starting in the wrong building.
The trip ends, the work does not
A Yiwu buying trip produces conversations, samples and a shortlist. Turning those into goods on the water happens after you fly home, which is where an unaccompanied trip usually evaporates: the buyer is back at their desk and the booths move on.
When we have guided the trip, we take the follow-up. Quotes are re-confirmed in writing, because spoken booth prices age quickly. Samples go out in one parcel. Orders are placed on agreed terms, delivered to our warehouse, checked against approved samples, consolidated and shipped. The person answering your messages is the same Yiwu business assistant who stood with you at the booth, so nothing needs re-explaining.
Two fees, both agreed in writing before anything starts. Guiding and interpreting is quoted per trip, by the number of days and how much of the buying we then handle. The buying itself runs on our normal commission, roughly 4% to 10% of order value, quoted per order.
When we will say Yiwu is the wrong trip
Futian is a general merchandise wholesale market, but it is not the whole of China. Machined parts, electronics built to drawings and specialised industrial goods often live in factory regions elsewhere, and a Yiwu market tour will not change that. A Yiwu sourcing guide earns the word honest by saying so before you book flights. Send the list first; if it does not belong here, we will say so plainly.
In which languages can you interpret at the market?
English and Russian. Booth conversations, trip records and all follow-up after you leave run in whichever you prefer.
What does the guide and interpreter service cost?
We quote it per trip, in writing, by the number of days and how much of the buying we then handle. Orders we go on to place work on our usual per-order commission, agreed before anything is booked.
Do I need a visa to visit Yiwu?
Entry requirements depend on your nationality, route and the purpose and length of your stay, and they change. Confirm them with the Chinese embassy or consulate responsible for your country. We plan the days; we do not advise on immigration.
Can you place and follow the orders after I fly home?
Yes, that is the point of the trip. We re-confirm quotes, collect samples, place orders on agreed terms, check goods in our warehouse and consolidate the shipment, on a commission of roughly 4% to 10% of order value, quoted per order.
How is this different from your representative service?
The representative service is monthly: one person holds your account all year. This service is booked for a single visit. Regular buyers often start with a guided trip and move to the monthly arrangement later.
Tell us your dates and your list
Send both to info@sourcingagentyiwu.com or message +86 136-6892-2294 on WhatsApp. We will say whether Yiwu fits the list, suggest the number of days, and put a per-trip quote in writing before you commit. A Yiwu business guide is worth booking only if the days pay for themselves, and we will say so honestly.
