It usually starts with a photo. Something you saw selling well in another shop, a product a customer keeps asking for, a screenshot from a video at two in the morning. The question behind Yiwu product sourcing is simple to ask and layered to answer: can I get this product, at this quality, at a price that leaves me a margin? Our job is to answer it with real numbers from the ground in Yiwu, and then, if the numbers work, to get the product to your door.
We are a sourcing and buying agent physically based in Yiwu, Zhejiang, with our own staff in the market and our own warehouse. People come to us to source products from Yiwu in three states: a photo, a sample, or an idea. All three work. They just start differently.
From photo to quote
Send the photo with whatever you know: rough size, material if you can tell, the price you would need to pay for it to make sense. We take it into the market and to our supplier contacts and come back with what actually exists: the same item or its close relatives, in the quality bands available, with prices, minimum quantities and lead times. Sometimes the news is good. Sometimes the honest answer is that the item you saw retails below what it can be sourced and shipped for at your volume, and we tell you that before you spend a cent.
Stock designs or your own version
Most people who buy products from Yiwu start with stock designs: goods a supplier already makes, ready in existing colours and packaging. Fast, low minimum, no tooling. The step up is customisation, your logo on the product, your artwork on the box, your colour instead of theirs. Suppliers here do this routinely, but each change adds minimum quantity and lead time, and printing plates or moulds may carry a one-off cost. We lay out both routes with numbers so you choose with open eyes rather than by default.
Samples before money
For anything beyond a trivial order, we get samples into your hands first. We collect them from shortlisted suppliers, photograph and check them at our warehouse, and courier them to you in one parcel. When you approve one, that physical sample becomes the standard the later delivery is checked against. The full sampling ritual has its own quirks, our blog covers them, but the principle fits in one line: never let the first time you touch the product be after you have paid for a container of it.
What it costs to work this way
Our fee is a commission on the order value, tiered roughly 4% to 10% by service level and order size, quoted per order in writing. Sourcing an easy stock item in volume sits low in the range. A search plus sampling plus customisation plus inspection sits higher. Sample costs and courier fees are passed through at cost, and on many items suppliers will offset sample charges against a confirmed order.
The limits worth knowing before you write to us
Yiwu is the deepest pool in China for general merchandise: household goods, toys, fashion accessories, stationery, party goods, small hardware, gifts. It is not the natural home of complex electronics, heavy machinery or garments cut to your patterns at scale; when your product belongs to another region’s industry, we say so. We also stay out of judging whether a design infringes someone’s brand or patent rights, that assessment needs your own adviser, though if something looks like an obvious copy of a famous brand we will flag it and step back. And no agent can promise a product will sell. We can get the product right; the market verdict is yours to earn.
Can I order a small trial quantity first?
Usually yes, at stock-design minimums, which for many items are one or a few cartons per design. Trial orders cost more per unit and more per kilo of freight, and they are still often the smartest first move.
How do I find out if my product idea exists in Yiwu at all?
Send the photo or description. A first read on availability and rough price band typically takes us a few working days, and the enquiry costs nothing.
Can you put my logo and barcode on products and packaging?
Yes, both are routine for suppliers here, subject to their minimums for printed runs. Artwork requirements and one-off plate costs are confirmed per item before you commit.
Do you handle the shipping too, or only the sourcing?
Both. Goods come into our warehouse for checking and consolidation, and we arrange sea, rail, air or express freight through forwarders, with the costs shown to you before booking.
