Buying general merchandise from China in mixed quantities usually leads you to Yiwu, and Yiwu is a difficult city to work in without someone local. You send us what you want to buy. We find the suppliers, collect quotes, check samples, place and follow the orders, inspect the goods and combine everything into one shipment.

What we actually do

The core of the work is unglamorous. We walk the market and search the supplier base for the products on your list, then narrow the options down to the ones worth quoting. We collect prices, minimum order quantities and lead times, and put them in front of you in a form you can compare. When you choose, we arrange samples, place the orders in writing, pay suppliers on your behalf from funds you send, and chase production until the cartons arrive at our warehouse.

Then the second half starts. Goods are counted and checked against the order, inspected to the depth you asked for, repacked where cartons will not survive the trip, and consolidated with your other orders so they leave China as one shipment rather than a dozen loose parcels. Timing varies with the product and the season, and we would rather tell you that now than surprise you later. A simple reorder can move quickly. A new product with custom packaging takes longer, and the weeks around Chinese New Year slow everything down.

Why Yiwu suits certain buyers

Yiwu is built around small commodities in colossal variety: toys, jewellery, stationery, party goods, kitchenware, bags, hardware, seasonal items, and thousands of categories beside them. Minimum order quantities are generally lower than factory-direct buying, which is exactly what a buyer filling shelves or building a mixed container needs. You can put a carton of hair clips, ten cartons of photo frames and a pallet of festive lights into one shipment, which is hard to arrange anywhere else.

It is not the right city for everything. If you need one highly technical product engineered to a demanding specification, a specialist factory region may serve you better, and we will say so when that is our honest read. Where Yiwu is strong, though, it is very strong, and a local agent is how you get at that strength without the missteps that eat first orders.
