Every quality problem is cheap to fix in Yiwu and expensive to fix at your warehouse. That single sentence is the whole business case for a Yiwu quality inspection service. Once goods are on the water, the bargaining power changes hands: the balance is paid, the freight is spent, and the person who could fix the defect is a continent away. Inspect before shipping, while the goods and the money are still in the same city, and the entire negotiation changes shape.
We provide that inspection from inside our own operation. We are a registered sourcing company in Yiwu with our own staff and our own warehouse, which means checking goods is not an add-on we subcontract. It is a stage every order of ours passes through.
Two places we inspect, and when
Most checking happens in our warehouse, as goods arrive from suppliers and before balance payments and loading. Cartons are opened, quantities counted against the order, items compared with the approved sample or written specification, functions tried, packaging examined. For larger or riskier orders it can pay to inspect earlier, at the supplier’s premises during or after production, so a problem is caught before the goods are even boxed. We do both, and we will tell you which fits your order rather than sell you the bigger one by default.
Which inspection do you actually need
Our Yiwu inspection service covers all of the following, and it is worth knowing which one you are asking for.
Buyers ask for inspection using half a dozen different names, and they do not all mean the same job. Worth separating them before you decide what to pay for.
Pre shipment inspection is the common one, and what most buyers mean by Yiwu QC. The goods are finished and sitting in the warehouse, and they get checked against your approved sample and written spec before they are packed and handed to freight. This is the last cheap moment to find a problem.
A product inspection or goods inspection is the same work described from the other end: the subject is the item itself, its finish, dimensions, function and packing. If someone quotes you for one of these, ask which stage they mean, because the words alone do not tell you.
An order inspection is a different question and an underrated one. It asks whether what arrived matches what you ordered: the right designs, the right colour split, the right quantity per line, the inner counts per carton. On a mixed assortment order this catches more real money than any defect check, because a short count on twelve lines is easy to miss and expensive to argue about later.
Supplier inspection and factory inspection are about the seller rather than the goods, and here we have to be straight with you. Plenty of Yiwu booths are traders or resellers rather than manufacturers, so there may be no factory of theirs to inspect at all. Where a real workshop exists and the order justifies a visit, we can go and look. Where the booth is a trader, a so called factory audit tells you very little, and we would rather say that than sell you a report about somebody else’s premises.
Most buyers working with us end up combining Yiwu sourcing and quality control in one arrangement, because the person who placed the order is the person best placed to know what the goods were supposed to be.
What you receive
An inspection you cannot read is theatre. Ours produces a report you can act on: photos and video of the actual goods, counted quantities, measurements where they matter, defects found and how widespread they appear, and a plain statement of whether the delivery matches what you approved. For sampled checks on larger lots we can work against an agreed AQL, the standard sampling approach used across the trade, so “how many did you actually look at” has a defined answer instead of a shrug.
Then you decide. Accept, accept with a price adjustment, ask for rework or replacement, or reject the lot. Our role as your Yiwu quality control service is to give you the facts fast enough that all four options are still open.
When goods fail
This is where being in Yiwu earns its keep. A failed check with the balance unpaid is a negotiation we usually win something from: repairs, replacement pieces, a discount that reflects reality. Suppliers here live on repeat trade with agents they see weekly, and that relationship is worth more to them than one disputed carton. We will not promise every dispute ends perfectly, some suppliers dig in, some defects surface late, but we can promise you will not be negotiating it alone, in a language you do not speak, from another time zone.
Inspection for goods we did not source
You can use the inspection on its own. If you bought from a Yiwu supplier directly, or through a platform, and you want eyes on the goods before you release payment or book freight, we can receive the cargo into our warehouse or attend at the supplier and report to you the same way. Yiwu sourcing and inspection work best as one flow, but the inspection stands alone when that is what you need, and we quote it per job.
What our inspection is not
We are not a laboratory and not a certification body. We check goods against your specification and sample; we do not test chemical composition, electrical safety or regulatory conformity, and we never issue certificates. Where your market requires testing or certification, we coordinate sample delivery to the accredited testing house you choose and manage the logistics around it. Be wary of anyone in this trade who offers to “handle” certificates informally; the paperwork that matters comes from accredited bodies or it does not matter.
Do you inspect every piece or a sample of the lot?
Depends on the order. Small high-value lots can be checked piece by piece. Larger lots are sampled, typically against an agreed AQL level, and we state in the report exactly what was checked.
What does inspection cost?
For orders we source, checking at our warehouse is built into the commission, which runs tiered from roughly 4% to 10% of order value. Standalone inspections and factory visits are quoted per job before we start.
Can you inspect during production rather than after?
Yes, for orders where an early look reduces real risk, typically customised goods or large runs. We visit the supplier during production and report before it is too late to correct course.
What if I disagree with the supplier about what counts as a defect?
That argument is best prevented: we push to define acceptance criteria in writing with the order. Where a dispute still happens, the report’s photos and counts give you an evidence base rather than a feeling.
